Back to Ireland

In 1965, I traveled through Ireland with a college group and fell in love with her. When we left New York our aircraft (unknown to us at the time) blew a tire on take-off. Upon arrival in Ireland, the pilot wanted to burn off fuel to make the Boeing 707 as light as possible, so he gave us a tour of the whole country from something like 10,000 feet in altitude. I knew then why it was called “The Emerald Isle”.

Now 44 years later my wife and I decided to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary by visiting Ireland. Faye comes from a Scotch-Irish ancestry and has always wanted to see Ireland. Since we lived in Scotland in 1976, now it’s Ireland’s turn.

Starting May 25th, 2009, we started posting a daily log with photos and story’s here. Join us on our 14 day trip to the Emerald Isle by clicking on the “Daily Log” link to the right. Comments will be open on individual posts daily if you wish to leave one.
