Doing Laundry

The Irish, like the British and probably the Europeans, have their own way of doing things.

Their cars are small.

Their refrigerators are small.

Their washing machines are small

In fact their washing machine will handle only about 1/3 the load of our Maytag back at home. One or two Levi’s, a couple shirts and socks and you have a full load.

I’ve never considered myself technically challenged. I’m a computer nerd, after all. But this machine threw me. Even in it’s small size it had all kinds of buttons and knobs and two ports to put in the detergent. So I put in one cup of detergent in each.
Oops, should have been one ‘cap’ of detergent. Where are my reading glasses?

After the machine ran for an hour I checked up on it and the wash light was still on. I began to think this thing might not be automatic. So I set the knob to rinse and spin. When it was done I started to take the clothing out –yuk, it was still full of soap, the awful smelling Eco friendly kind. I started the thing over, without detergent this time. And decided to be patient. After 2 hours it finally went through it’s cycle and ended with clean, damp clothes.
Two hours!
Tiny loads!
This is going to be an all-day

Thank God they have normal sized coffee pots.
